Which Aircraft Suits the Paris–Nice Route Best?
At roughly 690 km and 1h 20m, the Paris–Nice route is comfortably within reach of every jet category. The choice comes down to group size, luggage and how much cabin space you want on the way to the Côte d’Azur. On routes like Paris to Nice, we recommend a jet: about an hour in the air, so you arrive with the day still ahead of you. A piston twin like the Diamond DA62 is a more economical alternative, though the flight takes roughly twice as long.
For couples or small groups travelling light, an entry-level jet is the most economical way to reach the Riviera. For groups of five or more, or when luggage matters, the Citation CJ3 or Citation XLS give you far more space for a modest price difference.

Paris Departure Airports: Le Bourget vs Pontoise
Paris has several airports suitable for private jets. Which one is best depends mainly on where in the city you are starting and how much ground time you want to avoid.
| Airport | Best for | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| LBGParis Le Bourget | Most exclusive choice | Europe’s main business aviation airport. Dedicated private terminals, no commercial traffic and a choice of several FBOs, with ground time typically around 15 minutes. The most convenient option in Paris, and also the most expensive. |
| POXParis Pontoise | North-west Paris | A quieter alternative to Le Bourget, with two FBOs and a highly flexible service within opening hours. Ideal if you are travelling from the north-west of the Paris region. |
| TNFParis Toussus-le-Noble | South-west Paris | The most affordable option in Paris, a short drive from the Palace of Versailles. Best suited to light aircraft. Opening hours are limited, so flexibility is lower than at Le Bourget or Pontoise. Ask us whether your aircraft can operate from here. |
| CDGParis Charles-de-Gaulle | Connections | Expensive and less suited to private aviation. Mainly worth it if you are connecting to an airline flight. Otherwise, Le Bourget is the better choice, just next door. |
For most passengers Le Bourget is the best choice: the fastest processing, the most aircraft choice, and the widest availability on this route.
Arriving in Nice: NCE vs Cannes Mandelieu (CEQ)
Two airports serve the French Riviera for private flights, and choosing the right one can save a lot of time on the ground.
Nice Côte d’Azur (NCE)
Nice is the main gateway to the Côte d’Azur and the better choice if your final destination is Monaco, Nice itself or the wider region. It is open 24/7, has the widest range of handling services and accepts every aircraft category, from entry-level jets to large-cabin aircraft.
Cannes Mandelieu (CEQ)
Cannes Mandelieu is much closer to the centre of Cannes and is a popular arrival point during the Cannes Film Festival. It is also considerably more affordable: handling costs are typically around a third of those at Nice. Smaller aircraft, including light jets and turboprops, can operate into CEQ. The airport is open daily from 07:00 to 19:00 local time in winter, and from 08:00 until sunset in summer, so late arrivals and departures need to be planned around these hours.
FA Jets will confirm in advance whether your chosen aircraft is suitable for this airport.
The High Season: Cannes Film Festival, Monaco Grand Prix & Summer Charter
Paris–Nice is one of Europe’s busiest private aviation routes, and demand rises sharply at three predictable moments of the year.
Cannes Film Festival (May)
The festival brings a surge of demand for flights into both Nice and Cannes Mandelieu. Aircraft are in short supply and prices climb accordingly.
Monaco Grand Prix weekend
Another peak weekend, with Nice as the natural arrival airport for the principality. Availability is limited, and flexible travel times help considerably.
Summer season (July–August)
Summer is the longest high season on the Riviera. During peak periods, prices can increase by 30–50% due to high demand and limited aircraft availability. We recommend booking 3–4 months ahead for the Cannes Film Festival, the Monaco Grand Prix and the summer months.
Outside the peak weeks, FA Jets can often arrange a Paris–Nice charter at short notice. For the Cannes Film Festival, the Monaco Grand Prix and July–August, book 3–4 months ahead and stay flexible on timing.
